Marinas

Changi Sailing Club - Located on Serangoon Harbour on the NE corner of the island.  This club is not a marina as such, but has moorings available for boats up to 50 ft. LOA.  It also has a floating service pontoon which allows boats to come alongside to load/off-load items and take on water.  You may tie up your dingy along side this pontoon.

 2 Restaurants, Pub with billiard table, Chalet rooms, Swimming Pool,  Chandlery, Boat Repair Yard, Slipway which can slip yachts up to 36 ft. LOA and no more than 6 tons.

Advantages

  • Beautiful location that is easy to sail to.
  • Close to many cruiser amenities
  • Public Bus on the main road outside the club runs to the Tampines MRT station.

Disadvantages

  • No berths
  • No electricity
  • Shipping traffic causes wakes which rock the boats on the moorings

NatSteel Marine  - This facility is west of the Changi Sailing Club - just a little further up Serangoon Harbour.  It is a small marina with about 25 berths and is mainly for boats waiting to be hauled out for maintenance.  The 10 inside berths are small and will not accommodate boats over 30ft. 

Facilities:   NatSteel has a large maintenance yard with professional maintenance personnel available.  Cruisers are permitted to do their own work but are not permitted to spray on bottom paint.  There is a 70-ton travel lift. Virtually no other facilities available.

Cruiser Amenities

Grocery Stores - Shop N Save and Fair Price and Century Square and Tampines Mall, respectively.  Fair Price has some imported brands but fewer "western type" produce. (See Shopping Centers for directions on how to get to these centers.   The unpleasant odor you will smell at the store is a local fruit "delicacy" called Durian.  They are banned on the buses and MRT for obvious reasons.  Almost all large shopping centers contain one or more supermarkets.

Internet Access - Retrieving/sending emails can be made at the Club Office reception during office hours.  $2.00 for � hour

Propane Gas Canister Refill - Changi Village

Postal Services - Postal services are handled by at the My Photo Studio shop in Changi Village.

Banks/ATMs - 7-11 Store in Changi Villiage has an ATM which is on the Cirrus network.

Shopping Centers -

  • The closest large shopping centers to Changi Sailing Club are Tampines Mall and Century Square located at the Tampines Bus Interchange and MRT station.  To get there, see Transport on this page.  The shopping centers are located at the end of the bus line.
  • From NatSteel, the most easily reached large shopping center is Pasir Ris shopping center.  To get there, see Transport on this page.
  • Changi Village - A 10 minute walk  from the Changi Sailing Club down  Nethervaron Rd.  This village has a market, hardware stores, shops and Cafes, restaurants and hawker centers.

Transport

Changi - Tampines

Buses- Catch bus 29 at the bus stop located on Netheravon Rd. across the street from the Changi Sailing Club turn-off.  The buses run approximately every 8 minutes. Take the bus to the end of the line to the Tampines Interchange and MRT station to get to the nearest shopping center and the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) station. The ride will take about 30-40 minutes and costs $1.10 for an air-con bus when you use a fare card.  The fare will be approximately $0.10 more for cash.

Ferry Service -  Ferries or "Bumboats", as they are called here, can be hired to take you over to the lovely and undeveloped island of Pulau Ubin, located just opposite the Club.   The ferry landing is located at Changi Village beach.

Subway - The closest MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) station into the city is located at Tampines. (See Buses category on how to get to the station.) The trains run approximately every 2-5 minutes.  To get to the city center, catch the train (Green line) going West toward Boon Lay and get off at the City Hall interchange.

Taxis - Taxis are plentiful in the city and at the shopping center at Tampines, Pasar Ris and Changi Village and generally reasonably priced. 

NatSteel - Pasir Ris

Buses - Catch bus 6 at the bus stop located on Loyang Way across the street from Natsteel entrance gate.  The buses run approximately every 8 minutes. Take the bus to the end of the line to the Pasar Ris Interchange and MRT station to get to the nearest shopping center and the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) station. The ride will take about 30-40 minutes and costs $0.80 for an air-con bus when you use a fare card.  The fare will be approximately $0.10 more for cash.

Subway - The closest MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) station into the city is located at Pasar Ris. (See Buses category on how to get to the station.) Chandleries

  • Marintech is a small Chandlery, but it does not carry books or charts.  This store is a branch of the main one located at 101 Kitchener Rd., #02 Jalan Besar Plaza
  • NatSteel Chandlery has a small chandlery with several West Marine items and things that can not be found at other chandleries in Singapore.

Yacht Maintenance - 

  • Changi Sailing Club has a slipway which can handle boats up to 35 ft. LOA and up to 6 tons.  There is a small yacht maintenance yard for work for small boats
  • Natsteel a little further west of the Changi Sailing Club in Serangoon Harbour and has a much larger maintenance facility and a 70-ton travel lift.
